Check the UFOPedia for Long War to see what research nets you. Hell, sectoid autopsy isn't even worth much anyway at the start, so you can skip that. ![]() Start with Xenobiology, because it gives jack all for anything research wise but it lets you trade sectoid corpses for scientists, which will boost your research rate considerably. On the strategy/base end, you need to get used to a much slower pace and having more money but less sources of materials and engineers/scientists being much harder to obtain, and time being a huge factor in how you tackle things (since things you can build instantly in vanilla now take days to make in LW). Knowing when to exhaust fatigued troops is also important as well, it's just something you have to learn as well. I'm still going through them in May, most of them are just sitting, waiting for their second mission. I think all missions at the end of March, I had 28-30 PFCs ready to have a class unlocked. ![]() I recommend you push out as many PFCs (rookies) into SPECs (squaddies) as you can in the first month, while trying to get someone to CPL rank to unlock the training school. Tactical is a different change because the aliens keep getting stronger over time (I think sectoids even get a small boost in the first month, if not the second), and you need to learn to manage teams that aren't always familiar to you, especially with 8 classes and you start with 6/8 open slots.
